The University of Idaho is launching new artificial intelligence degree programs, expanding opportunities for students to build in-demand tech skills right here in Idaho.
Beginning this fall, students can pursue bachelor’s and graduate degrees in AI at campuses in Moscow and Coeur d’Alene, with additional online options to support working professionals. These programs are designed to meet growing workforce demand and prepare students for careers in a rapidly evolving, tech-driven economy.
What does this mean for Eastern Idaho?
Even though these programs are based in North Idaho, U of I is also providing opportunities for these programs on-line so the impact is statewide. Expanding AI education strengthens Idaho’s overall talent pipeline—supporting industries like energy, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, and national security that are critical to Eastern Idaho’s economy.
For REDI, this highlights an important opportunity: aligning workforce development with emerging technologies. As AI continues to shape industries, ensuring Eastern Idaho can attract, retain, and grow tech talent will be key to long-term competitiveness.
This is another example of how investments in education today are building the workforce Eastern Idaho will need tomorrow.
