Battelle Energy Alliance donates $1 million to support new agreement with College of Eastern Idaho

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Today, officials from Battelle Energy Alliance (BEA), the company that manages and operates Idaho National Laboratory, and College of Eastern Idaho announced a new agreement that will help prepare the future workforce of the laboratory, energy industry and partnering industries, while providing additional learning opportunities for community college students.

BEA presented CEI President Rick Aman with a check for $1 million to support the partnership over the next five years and to begin planning the new Future Tech Building on the CEI campus.

“This effort is so important to our community and our region,” INL Director John Wagner said. “Together, CEI and INL will help give eastern Idahoans an opportunity to receive the training they need. Not just to make a living, but also to help us change the world.”

Aman said this collaboration will benefit future CEI students. “Our hope is that many of these students will choose to remain in eastern Idaho and work at INL or other industry partners throughout their career,” Aman said.

Gov. Brad Little praised the agreement, noting the importance of providing Idaho’s students the education and training they need to live, work and raise their families in Idaho. The event was also attended by local legislators and Ammon Mayor Sean Colletti.
