POCATELLO — Local IT company MOATiT has purchased the Boy Scouts of America office building on Pocatello Creek Road, a space with more room to expand its business and services to the community.
Ali Khan, owner of MOATiT, said he purchased the building located on 2306 Pocatello Creek Road because he thought it was a historic place with a strong connection to the community.
"It was built and maintained by the community," Khan said. "Everything was done by volunteers. My goal is to keep that connection alive."
The people who work at the scout office are still going to be in the building. They will just move down to the basement while MOATiT will be in the top level of the building.
"We will be moving our data center into the building," Khan said. "We will be opening an equipment store for our technology products with all our additional service."
Khan said he will also be setting aside a portion of the building that people will be able to use if they are in need of any office space.
"Sometimes people need a place to sit down and work," Khan said. "We are providing that space for them."
Khan hopes that moving to this new location will help MOATiT form better relationships with the community. It will be able to expand its services and train more students.
"We want to be creating relationships with the community and contributing to the community," Khan said. "It's just where we are, it was too small."
Khan looks forward to moving the company into this building because it has more space than the office MoaTiT has now. It’s a small business that has been experiencing a lot of growth.
"We've been growing about 40 percent each year," Khan said. "The goal is to grow the company more."
MOATiT offers services to several businesses throughout Pocatello, and is already starting to expand into cities such as Salt Lake City.
"We could be able to expand internationally," Khan said.
Khan hopes to be completely moved into the building by Aug. 10. He plans to have a ribbon cutting and an open house when the move is complete.
"We are going to be inviting our clients to show how our setups are working," Khan said.
